Volkswagen engineers have put the Touareg on a diet as they prepare the next generation of the SUV for a 2010 launch as a 2011 model. The new Touareg will shed pounds via a greater use of aluminum. The goal: Shave 500 pounds to 600 pounds from the current Touareg's curb weight of nearly 5,100 pounds.
Mitsubishi is set to pull the wraps off the plug-in hybrid version of its Outlander SUV at the 2012 Paris motor show. As CAR previously reported back in February, Mitsubishi is continuing its commitment to electrify its range, with the Outlander PHEV incorporating lesson's learned from the brand's fully electric iMiEV city car. Never one to shy away from making a big splash at its home show, Citroen will wheel out the extravagant new Hypnos concept car at the Paris motor show 2008. It's a crossover vehicle showing how Citroen could launch a mid-sized 'Allroad' style vehicle. Think of the Hypnos as a C5 on stilts then.Naturally, the new Citroen Hypnos concept car has the requisite hybrid powertrain.
